1950 Singer Featherweight 221 Sewing Machine EXCELLENT-TESTED withAll the Goodies

1950 Singer Featherweight - Model 221. IN GREAT CONDITION - TESTED. With Case - All the Original Accessories - More! Notice that it still has a tag on the back from Necchi Sewing Circle, a sewing machine service shop that existed in Red Bank, New Jersey in the 1980s.

Original Locking Carry Case with Its Key. 3 Extra Bobbins (+1 installed). Pack of 3 Extra Needles - Size 14.

As shown, it also comes with a vintage Singer publication (How to Make Cushions, Pillows, and Bolsters) and a few more sewing tools. Lovely condition, from a non-smoking environment. The machine is in excellent condition, both functionally and cosmetically - showing very light/average home use. You can see the gold filigree is still virtually intact.

When there's average-to-heavy use, you will always see significant loss of filigree. There are NO mildew, tobacco, or pet odors.

The machine has been tested. It functions as expected, and stitches very nicely. As with ANY Featherweight of this age, YOU WILL WANT TO have a routine lubrication & adjustment done at the shop before you press it into use. As mentioned above, you have all 6 original attachments, and they are in excellent shape.

There is also a complete pack of three size 14 sewing machine needles, plus the needle that's already installed, of course. Yes, the bobbin case is in the bobbin case place, and it pops in and out easily with the lever, as it should. And you have 3 extra bobbins, besides the one inside the bobbin case. The pedal is original, and the rubber-coated original wiring is in fantastic shape -- not cracking. There are some light/average scuffs on top of pedal.

The rubber belt is in very nice condition -- recently replaced. The light also works fine. EVEN the Bakelite plug shield around the back of the machine is perfect! These are quite often broken on the older Featherweights. The carry case is in very nice shape, functionally and cosmetically, and you DO have the key.

These are very often lost. It does NOT have the usual signs of a machine that's been stored in a hot attic, such as cracked/gummy rubber feet. It does NOT have the usual signs of a machine that has been stored in a damp cellar: the white oxidation that forms on the underbelly. The carry case latches have a bit of tarnish, which is average for a case of this age. The paper manual is in good shape.

Later 1950 machines, and beyond, came with a manual dated 1950. Overall, a lightly-used, responsibly-stored 1950 Featherweight.

You can't do better! The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.
