This is a beautiful vintage Singer sewing machine, model 191J, made in the 1950s and comes from the original owner who took good care of her machine. This machine is a superbly engineered sewing machine, industrial strength with the direct gear potted motor and all steel gears and will easily sew soft leather, outdoor fabric cloth, leather coats and jackets, and canvass for automotive or boat covers and more. It will also sew light fabrics just as well. The 191J was the choice of tailors and upholsterers because of its great strength.
Very reminiscent in looks of the 201K the 191J is every bit as good and sews a perfect stitch. Doing research on this machine it copuld be called an updated version of the 15-91 with the same mechanics and oscillating hook. This machine runs very fast and strong and has that beautiful potted motor hum. We easily threaded it up and it sewed right away beautiful stitches as seen in photos. The machine was lubricated, bobbin winder was tested to work correctly and has a nice soft newer tire, tension dial works as it should and we had no trouble adjusting tension to produce a perfect bottom stitch, light works perfectly with a flick of the switch.
Overall condition is excellent, the original bakelite pedal controller and power cord has excellent like new wiring. Cosmetically everything is in excellent condition with hardly a mark to be found, lovely tan paint is in superb shiny condition, beautiful front cover is in perfect shape.
Comes with everything in the photos including pedal controller and power cord, 10 class 15 bobbins, extra needles, and some attachments. This is a wonderful example of a great sewing machine when Singer made awesome quality machines. We are dedicated to customer service, thanks for looking!
