Singer 99K Sewing Machine/Case, Excellent Working Condition, 1954

Singer 99K Sewing Machine, Excellent Working Condition, made in Great Britain, 1954. This Singer 99K Sewing Machine from 1954 works perfectly in all aspects I could determine. My sewing expert, has 50+ years of sewing experience and owns three sewing machines. She tested this machine, stitching the orange polka dot material with the black thread, pictured.

Though my maternal grandmother was the expert seamstress in the family, my mother was encouraged to follow suit. Though she never became as adept in sewing as her mother, she gave the machine light use throughout the late 1950s and into the'60s.

The machine has been used only rarely used since 1970. The machine securely nests in its suitcase enclosure.

There are a couple of small tears in the suitcase fabric (seen clearly in the pictures) but the machine itself is free of marring or damage. The finish is "smudgy, " and seems like it could use a clean-up and polishing to make the glossy black finish shine like a new car, the way it did when I was a child. According to the International Sewing Machine Collector's Society (ISMACS International, see their database online), this machine (s/n EJ515887) was made on February 4, 1954. Machine and case: 30 pounds; 15x12.5x8.
