Vntg Singer Godzilla Finish Mod 128, Tested/Works, See Description. Today for your consideration we have a keen old Singer Model 128 in the black crinkle/wrinkle/"Godzilla" finish.
According to the chart I found online, this particular machine Serial No. AK868511 was produced on 3 April 1952. This model was originally designed to be used with the manual foot pedal setup, but this one has a motor and a light attached. Both of these work, though please note that there is no bulb included.I did test it with a higher-wattage bulb to see if it works, but it takes a 10-watt bulb and all I had was a 40-watt test bulb. It takes the same size bulb as the commonly found 40-watt "appliance" bulb.
This machine does not use a conventional bobbin, but rather a weird cylindrical bobbin that goes into a torpedo-shaped carrier. It is a bit difficult to thread at first, but there is a helpful video online. Please note that this is not a lightning-fast machine; this odd bobbin arrangement moves in a long arc, limiting the speed of the machine.
Please also note that on occasion you will have to turn the wheel on the right towards you to get the machine running. This happens when the bobbin shuttle carrier is at the point closest to the operator. I don't know if there is a fix for this, but I've done everything I could think of to remedy this, to no avail. Please note that we are not sewing machine experts. We've done our best to degrease, clean, and properly oil this machine.
You should probably oil it again before use. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Sewing (1930-Now)\Machines". The seller is "luckypennywv" and is located in this country: US.
